Somebody Tell Him Who The F I is...

Okay, I am so psyched about this post. This was my recently purchased blouse with the oversized red flower. It's actually a cropped top but since I am not that tall (obviously!) this looked like a blouse. When I saw it, I thought about poinsettia and Christmas. Hahaha! Well, it's also long sleeved so I might use this when the weather gets colder.

Speaking of weather, I wonder if Christmas ever dawns in Manila. I mean, I have friends and family saying that it's getting colder in their area but I wonder why it's still freakin' humid in Manila. I am not complaining though. I like this better than rains.

Going back to my outfit, I paired this with my thrifted Baleno mini skirt. I don't like this skirt before because I thought it was too short and it makes my bum obvious. Well, what do you guys think? When I strutted my arse all the way to driving school in my big shades and my 'don't give a damn' attitude, I definitely felt well, great! Many thanks again to Ate Maris for her skills in taking my pics. I owe her big time!

Ohh.. the stray mutt is moving closer. Flats from Penshoppe; Mini skirt from Baleno;
watch from Tomato; bangles from Accesoriz, cropped top from a tiangge near Edsa Central

Embraced by Melancholia

This year has made me come face to face with my demons. Yes, I hate 2011. I thought this year would bring more success, hope and possibly a new love and a new outlook into my life but two months before the end of the year, I find myself being sucked into the same hole like an Alice--- small, fragile, and afraid of the menacing bobcat with the weird grin.

Actually, I am not worried about the career path. As far as I am concerned, I am happy that at least, while everything seems to be a failure in my life right now, I have a good job that provides me well. At least I got that covered. Although I do not intend on being a tutor for the rest of my life, I still know what I want and am still hellbent on being a lawyer.

Okay, so basically I feel like I am stuck in a rut because of my pathetic to non-existent lovelife. While I convince myself that I might as well adopt a child when I am still single at 35, but still nothing beats having another person to occupy that empty space right next to my spot in bed. (It's not X-rated, you twisted little minx!)

Nothing beats waking up with a text message asking you if you had breakfast yet. I miss entering a store and randomly picking up a perfume just because it reminded me of him. Or checking out newer scents to impress his nostrils.

Don't get me wrong but I am not the type who believes jumping into a relationship will definitely kill my loneliness. I guess I am lucky I have a huge community of people and a wide variety of interests to put my thumb on that's why I'm not so bored. All I'm saying is, I miss being wanted. I'm not an egotistical bitch but yeah, I like the thought that at some random moments, I cross someone's mind.

But then again, I don't settle. I will not settle for somebody who is sooo not worthy just to be in a relationship. An embrace will be nice. But I don't want to go wiping some guy's ass just to fill that void.

Arrgghhhh! I don't know what I want...like seriously. It is so hard to want something that will inevitably make you put down the walls you have set to build your fortress. It is so hard to want something that will make you happy and fragile at the same time. Hay, I wish it can be just as simple as ordering coffee. Or getting a new polish. If it tastes bland, just put more sugar. If there will be any unruly bubbles in your nails after putting the lacquer on, just dab it with any solvent. Wish it's that simple.

In My Neighbor's Eyes

Yes, all these photos were taken by my neighbor, Ate Maris Pelino. That is because nobody will take my outfit posts anymore. Huhuhu! well, I think they turned out quite okay, right?

I received good news today. Actually, I felt good and sad at the same time. My mom told me that my younger brother is getting married next year, although still in civil rites. That made me happy and sad---a weird mixture. Well, I am sad because I am getting older and he has overtaken me. I am still single at the moment and the prospect of getting hitched is still nowhere in sight. But of course, I am happier because my brother and his girlfriend have been together for almost five years. Like they say, couple who are engaged that long either break up or get married. It's a good thing they chose the latter. Hehehe!

Anywho, today, I went to my driving lessons again. It's the third day that my cousin and I attend driving lessons. Now I know how to drive but the pesky steering wheel is not cooperating. I am always disappointed at how I maneuver the wheel.

This is how I dressed up to my driving class:

Black shirt, thrifted; khaki shorts from Old Navy, thrifted; sandals; SM Dept. Store

I recently purchased the khaki shorts I wore from a nearby thrift shop. I can't believed it is only sold for P50! It's Old Navy and still in mint condition. It fits me perfectly.

My Parisian sandals look cute. Don't you agree?

I wore the bangles I recently purchased. They just add a punch to my whole ensemble

Well, that's it for now. Hope you had a great day guys...

Legend of the Rings

As much as I'd love to post my outfits the past couple of days especially those that I recently got and those I wore to my driving classes, I can't. Now, nobody will take my pictures. The yaya we had already left and her replacement is scared shit to touch my digicam, let alone press the buttons. It was yaya Melanie who was always to my rescue when I needed to post my outfit of the day. So, well, I guess I am left with no choice but to train our new yaya.

Anywho, last Sunday I went to check out the eye center if they still have the same brand of contact lenses that I used to buy from them because I need to replace my contact lenses and I needed them quick since I am now driving (ahhheeemmm!).  Well, after that I went ahead and window shopped to my heart's delight. I found these accessories which are exactly what I'm seeing from Break My Style (by Lauren Uy). I found the connector ring, the peacock feather ring and these bangles all in Accesoriz at SM Sucat. The prices are very reasonable and they add a punch to any outfit.

Here they are:

I have been wanting to buy any red bangles because of my recently purchased
long sleeved blouse with a big flower accent
on the side. So I think these babies will be perfect!

Break My Style (by Lauren Uy) has always featured connectors rings. They are so edgy. And mine is cute, too!
This is my personal fave since I'm now into the whole feather thingy. Love it!

Anyways, that's it for now. I hope to post my outfits on here very soon. I'd love to hear your comments and will also be glad to check out your posts. Please feel free to send me your links so I can check them out.

Sunday's Best

The urban jungle that is Metro Manila is hard to survive without the comfort of friends. This is basically unfamiliar waters for us small fishes so we need to group ourselves into schools just to feel that we are not alone. So last Sunday, our "school" meet up after I had this itch to get a plane ticket and head home stat! So, I consulted and met up with my law school buddies Marian and Zarah. Supposedly, it was to be a bigger group but somehow all the others are busy digging holes in their law books for the upcoming bar exams in November.

Anywho, we met up in Shangrila Mall, had lunch and bonded over coffee and great talk. We realized, I mean I realized that I am not the only one who feels sad and despondent at times. They too share the same sentiments. We feel that we truly need to be lawyers in one way or another otherwise we will be stuck in a rut.

Well, we agreed to meet up more often than the once-every-two-months practice that we have had. So, maybe, I'll stick around until Marian's birthday or the last day of the bar.

Here are some pics we took...

Finally, here they are!
Well, after chitchatting and bothering our friend Clermf with a frantic phone call, we strolled around Megamall. I coaxed Marian to take my outfit of the day pic so you guys can check out what I wore. I was all blue that day--- dark blue dress from Viola, a blue cardigan I scored from Baclaran. To cinch my waist I added my braided belt from Genevieve Gozum. I wore my go-to flats from Penshoppe and my newest love, the feather necklace from Shopeuphoria http://gelatinlover.blogspot.com...

Check out this link for other great feather finds. http://gelatinlover.blogspot.com/
That's it for now. It's already 2:32 AM. I need to sleep now. Bye guys, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I HOPE THERE WILL BE MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU

Our definition of a word, even the simplest one, varies. It can be because of our family background, cultural upbringing, peer's pressures, among others.

It fascinated me how media can also play a role in shaping what we think or what pops out in our heads when he hear of that word.

I guess almost all of you know my job. I teach English online to Japanese professionals. So everyday I get to teach them how words are "standardly" defined by google, by freedictionary.com or by webster.

On this particular day, I was to teach adjectives to my student. Adjectives used to describe a person's appearance. So naturally, I have to teach words like TALL, PRETTY, SLIM, OVERWEIGHT, FAT, PETITE, etc. Normally, after I teach them the meaning of the words, I will show them pictures and ask them to make up a story or make a sentence using the words they learned. So I typed in FAT in google and I saw this picture:

this picture was saved under photos-of-thin-and-fat-girls.jpg

Well, I know what fat is. But I have no idea that the world's conception of fat even involves a girl looking like the one on the right! No wonder high school girls are having anorexia. It's not their fault because images like this categorize girls who have 28-inch waistlines as fat. Naturally I was offended as well because of how the "big people" were mocked through the pictures.

Anyways, I showed the image to my student and asked him what he can say about the picture. Here is what he said, "Tutor, I see three beautiful women. The one in the middle has fair complexion and the those to the left and right have tan complexion. They all have long black hair. I think they are models."

I asked him, "Do you think the one to the right is fat?"

"Huh?"

I repeated my question.

He said, "No, she is not fat. Not fat at all. They all look pretty gorgeous."

I said to myself, "Well, Google said otherwise."

I hope there will be more people like my student in the mass media, especially internet. The world needs more people like him.

Amid the Stormy Weather

Yes, amid this stormy weather (at the height of Typhoon Quiel), I did this shoot. Well, besides the lack of anything to do and sheer boredom, I was inspired to do a post about what to wear for this rainy times. According to PAGASA (our weather agency), the storms aren't gonna stop lashing the Philippines with another one brewing at the foot of Typhoon Pedring and Typhoon Quiel. It's expected to come next week and is initially dubbed as Typhoon Ramon. Oh, my! I hope they will stop. I also wish there is something bloggers and curvy girls on here can do to help those in need in the northern part of the country.

Anyho, a staple for this kind of weather where its so unpredictable (read: sunny and humid in the morning and it will rain showers in the afternoon), it's safe to don something with a longer sleeves which you can roll when it gets hot. In this sheer nude blouse I thrifted recently, I wore a pink tank underneath that's why it's cozier. It is enough to warm you up and if in case you got caught in the rain, it's easier to dry in a hand dryer in the office restroom. Just arm yourself with any cardigan or shawl if in case it gets too cold for comfort.

I added a brown braided belt to cinch the waist and wore my wedge from Parisian

You can also roll the pants if you need to wade in flood waters. LOL!
I tried that once wearing these wedge.
Angry Bird added color to my all nude-brown ensemble. Bought
this from Genevieve Gozum just because I thought
it was cute.

Another alternative is to wear boots. I was inspired by another fellow curvy blogger from the US (search thestylesupreme in youtube) and am planning to buy boots. She was not that tall and of course she is curvy but she rocked it. In this ensemble, I wore a peacock-printed dress and my crocheted boots, both of which are thrifted. This crocheted boots is perfect because it's not too hot and it can protect you from puddle splashes.

My crocheted boots!

Hope everyone will be safe in their houses now. Be safe everyone!
