OOTD: High waist-ed Shorts

This is not exactly my outfit today. I wore this one last Tuesday and I've been meaning to post the pictures my friend Melanie Lanzaderas gladly took before I head out to the office. I remember it was so early in the morning for me but since I needed to get my ATM (yey!) I have to haul my ass and head to work.

I bought this Meg high-waisted shorts by accident. I think I bought it while looking for a summer dress last April. The sales lady from Meg (of SM San Lazaro) took out new outfits to be displayed and since I was pretty much their first customer that day, she suggested I try their new releases. I screamed (like literally) when I saw this high-waisted pleated shorts IN MY SIZE! Thank you Meg for thinking that there are people with waist lines over 30. LOL! More over, I think I grabbed this pair for only P200.

I paired this with a black sequined top I thrifted from an ukay store here in Sucat and matched it with my floral flats I knew I blogged about before.

I like the details at the back and I like how it accentuate the fact that I have a waist. Yes people it may be a bit thick-er but I have a waist!

My Harem Pants Challenge

I know. Harem Pants? You guys might be thinking: What the heck is she talking about? But I do swear by Gabi Gregg's mantra: Make it Work. So if and unless I look at myself in the mirror and cringe at the look I'm seeing, I would definitely step out of the sun in it. And today, I just stepped out in a pair of harem pants.

I bought them cheaply I think a month ago. I had a haul in Baclaran (which personally I think I soo need because retail therapy always works to get me out of the dumps) a few months ago where I bought a pair of floral flats (at  P180 and it amazingly fits me and my cousins), a pair of black semi-flared denims I so love the fit (for P300) and these black harem pants (for P220). At first I was hesitant to buy them because I have read from other bloggers that curvy girls should stay away from any harem pants as much as possible. It is not figure-flaunting and it adds volume. Well, no curvy girls should ever be caught looking twice or even thrice as big as she actually is!

I am bottom heavy, I admit it. I wish I am top heavy like I have bigger boobs, but I don't. Normally when I am chatting and guys would tell me they like curvy girls, I flatly bid them goodbye. I know what they are expecting and honestly, I refuse to be adored merely because of my tits. I have wits, men! That was quite a segue to another possible blog post. LOL! But as I was saying, I wish I weren't bottom heavy but I am. Therefore, harem pants can potentially highlight my thighs, something I am veering away from.

Luckily I found a pair which does not have a lot of hanging fabric and it does not have drop crotch folds in front so I do not have any extra fabric hanging in between my thighs. What my pair have are pretty folds in the sides where pockets are supposed to be.

To balance it out I wore my black tank top and my favorite blue cardigan since I know I'd shiver in the cold at work. As advised by Wikihow ( http://www.wikihow.com/Wear-Harem-Pants ) I wore costume jewelry and my brown wedge to give me added height and to slim down my legs as advised by wiki. LOL!

I took a video of it but for some reason I cannot edit it so I'd just post pics taken by my co-workers. Please comment...thanks. ♥

OOTD: DIY Style

My cousin Jam noticed that I haven't been dressing up lately. She would often wonder why I'm always in jeans and shirts when I go to work when I used to dress up as if I own the company I work for.

I said I'm uninspired.

Probably the reason why I'm down in the dumps lately is because my creative juices aren't flowing the way they used to. It's just there...stuck.

That's why, in an attempt to get my mojo back, I got a pair of scissors and with that in hand, I ripped my favorite floral dress and cut the hems shorter so instead of a dress, I have a long blouse. I cut out the hems of my black capri pants so there is room in my thighs to roll out the hems. Yesterday, instead of my usual ballet flats, I wore heels.

well, it did not help my luck in the Sales Department but I know I look good. LOL! Check this out:

LIFE CHOICES, AUTOBOTS AND OPTIMUS PRIME

I'm NOT a big fan of anything sci-fi. Growing up I'm not one of those who would glue their eyes on TV tubes to watch Voltes V, Terminator or Transformers. Except for X-Men, I'm not into the whole saving-the-world-when-it-comes-to-an-end thing. That is why going to a Transformers movie that is the third installment of probably a long queue of movies to follow (just so I can feed my curiosity) was tearing me up. Fine, it was in 3D as well so I know I have to part with a good amount of money. But the best reason I got for watching it was (well, curiosity and...) the fact that I need a break.

I'm soo drained lately that just spending time with my cousins was like fuel to an already beaten vehicle. I'm not happy where I am right now. I got a job where everyday, it does not bring me joy. Instead, I get this gaping hole inside of me that keeps on tearing me apart. I do not get appreciated, I do not even feel that I'm being of help to anybody plus well, I don't get paid enough as well. I have constantly joked that I'm the company's biggest donor and that (much to the delight of my bosses) I'm just there for fun.

Sitting there watching Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Ironhide and the others come to  life via 3D technology was a relief. Well, it was great but this blog is not a review of the movie. LOL! That was hands down awesome and anybody who has not experienced it MUST see it. Promise, it is worth it.

More importantly, I felt as though me and Sam (Shia) was in a similar predicament. He was three months out of college and was ready to conquer the real world. I have always been trying to conquer the real world. Both of us are looking for a place where we will be recognized and our contributions valued for whatever they're worth. We do not want to be recognized as mere messengers. I do not want to be a mere messenger.

Thanks to a two-hour movie, I think I will embark on another life-altering decision. But anyways, here is what I wore to watch Transformers 3 (Dark of the Moon).

Who would have thought...

Yesterday was one of those days when everything was going like the way you pictured it in your head, albeit with a few minor setbacks. It was a day when your wardrobe was pretty neat, when your hair and your curls were bouncing the way their supposed to. When, except for that crazed pimple in your forehead, your face was glowing the perfect summery blush. A day when you step out in your sunglasses and despite your size, some men would really give you second glances.

It was my day yesterday.

I had too much on my plate but I was finishing everything way ahead of schedule. There was a traffic all the way from Sucat to Lawton and the LRT trains to Edsa were packed with people but I was able to get to Mall Of Asia for another task way before 12 noon.

On top of that, I got my last pay.

I was ecstatic. I was thinking, at least I have something to keep me afloat after I quit my job and enter the unemployed again.

I had a perfect lunch at The French Baker and as a treat to myself, I ordered The Chicken Cordon Bleu, which is kinda pricey for me but what the heck! Like I said, It was my day! It was a tempting dish.

It was a deep fried flattened chicken breast with butter and cheese filling, encrusted in seasoned sourdough bread crumbs in creamy hern sauce (I thought it was pesto) and sided with carrots, squash (??) and 'sayote'. The chicken was sitting on top of something that tastes like mash potato.
I had rice sprinkled with parsley and a tall glass of four seasons.

I was likewise given a complimentary clam chowder soup which was awesome!

Suffice it to say, I had fun. On my own. Then I have to hurry to get my medical results and finally, submit my pre-employment requirements so that I can start training for Hotels.com on Tuesday. I was happy because despite feeling that something might be wrong with me, I was certified fit to work. So now, I headed to Santa Grove.

There all fell into pieces.

That's where and when I realized the guy sitting next to me in the jeepney stole my purse. That's why even with a less crowded jeep, he was sitting way too close to me for comfort. That's why something was bumping my bag.

I just realized I lost the wallet my best friend gave me, some P2k cash, my ATM card, my heath care cards that I'm planning to use today to get a free OB check up. Practically I lost part of me. I'm not going to say that I lost material stuff, things I can actually get again. But the wallet was from my best friend (and yes, it was a Kenneth Cole Reaction purse!), and for somebody who is currently out of the workforce, P2k is a lot! It was intended partly for groceries and for a needed time to relax before I get into the graveyard shift again.

The question is: why me?? Why all these in a month? I lost my guy, I quit my job because it was anyway slipping through my fingers, I failed the bar, I failed at my assessment of where I'm supposed to be at this time and at my age. All in a month!

The situation is bleak. But I can't even get myself to cry. I wish I'm somewhere else where I can pour my heart out but at the rate of where things are going, I can't even afford to be anywhere else. My outsides look cool but my insides are blue, to quote "Unpretty" by TLC.

I wish there is a way for people to know when a series of unfortunate events would befell on them at a certain time. And don't give me any shit about things turning around for the better. It's a pathetic excuse to keep on hoping for nothing. If you come to think about it, if there is a silver lining in all things bleak, how come that guy sitting at the corner who would go to bed with an empty stomach is still begging for scraps after two or three months of doing the same mindless routine? If things are going to turn around for the better, can i tell him that he will get a house and a lot and lots of food on an actual table after three months of begging? I can't right?

That's why, who would have thought that my perfect day would be one of my worst so far.

Why there should be a Fat Girl in Every Fashion Week...

I am not small, I am not thin. Well, yeah, I used to be, like a decade ago. But for now, I'm a proud owner of this 70 kilogram body trapped in a 4'10" frame.

I used to hide away in baggy clothes and loose materials in those "denial" stages..in those "in-between moments". But I got a good shaking and stirring when I read, watched, and became inspired by the legion of curvy women all over the US and Europe expressing body positive attitudes. I figured 'hey, these women are way bigger than me but they look good, they feel sexy and they love themselves!'. That's when I embraced my love for my plus-size figure and eventually began dressing up according to my size.

This is why I have to be in the Philippine Fashion Week. This is precisely why Oxygen has to select me to become their Correspondent to this momentous event.

Oxygen has my vision of accepting people irregardless of their sizes. I am loving their jackets and I even fit one in a Large size, as opposed to my usual selection of XLs and XXLs. Their items flatter even my most stubborn bulge. Plus, a lot of their items are in black and gray--- my most favorite color (or lack of it!).

Oxygen for me understands the need to recognize the fact that beyond Large sizes, there are also those that comes in XLs and XXLs. True, I am not to saying that I favor obesity or something. I still believe in being healthy. No one is sexy unless he or she has her blood pressure in check. But a lot of our men and women here in the country have little options when it comes to dressing in style. Women would either stick to the usual Tshirts and baggy pants combo or an ensemble of ill-fitting styles that only women in the family way appreciates. I mean, seriously, no curvy girl wants to be asked what trimester she is in and what's her baby gonna be when she's not even pregnant! A lot of times when I want to shop for jeans I end up empty handed after hours of looking for great finds. Ladies jeans usually end up at 32. If you want the bigger sizes, you will have to pay for it. Heck, I even have the impression that no stylish curvy girl is poor because she has to pay extra for each extra fabric in her clothes.

That is why there has to be a fat woman on the Philippine Fashion Week to voice out the concern that designers must acknowledge the existence of this segment of our society. That we too have the right to dress nicely. That we deserve to breathe and feel style the same way that smaller women and men does.

Summery Skies

I'm soo excited for the summer. They say it is going to be a wet summer here in the Philippines but I still want to bask in the glow of summery goodness. Nevermind the fact that I'm in crazy Manila and not in my province and therefore fresh air and good sea breeze will be a challenge to find (also the time to squeeze a vacay in my hectic sched troubleshooting people's Xbox issues). But still, I'm soo excited. I even went ahead and look for swimsuits that will fit me. Unfortunately, I look horrendous in spandex and I opted for long flowy dresses instead. i know they are perfect for resort wear.

I actually found one for a bargain price of P199 or something like $5 from Meg. Check it out.
