Week's Obsessions: Reviews

I got my long overdue and long anticipated stack of SODEXO last week and I was soo thrilled to purchase stuff I would not normally pay over the counter with cash or card. The good thing about SODEXO's is that while they  are equivalent to money, since your not giving out the actual cash, di ka nanghihinayang. So I splurged last week.

One of my amazing purchases is the Maybelline Hypercurl Volum' Express in its new packaging. I am the kind of person with 'kinaingin' eyebrows that I painstakingly groom every week to prevent it from looking sparse and I also have rather thin and sparse eyelashes. I tried a lot of mascaras from cheap ones to kinda pricier kinds but none worked. I tried falsies but since I'm wearing contacts it's such a hassle. I tried eyelash extensions when Taylor Swift had her concert in Manila but well, that was just temporary. So when I tried Maybelline's Hypercurl Volum' Express, I was surprised to get amazing results. My sparse lashes not only lengthened and thickened, it curled as well. The bristles of the mascara have the ability to pick up even the thinniest of lashes and make it defy gravity. I would not curl my lashes with a curling clip but after I put the mascara, I would, although just ever so gently so that I don't ruin my lashes. It is even more amazing if you place mascara in a downward motion first then upward so that your lashes are coated on top and at the bottom. For P250, it's a good buy!

I also got Skin Cravings Scrub Me Pretty in Strawberry Yogurt and Skin Cravings Smooth Over Lotion in Choc Mint. I love the scrub. It has a luxurious feel and it really smells yummy. The scent retains on your skin and lingers even when I'm already styling my hair. The plus side is that it is so moisturizing that you won't even find the need to put any lotion. The lotion smells like Dynamite candy and it is kinda cool. It has a tingling sensation without the heavy feel. These stuff I just read in Cosmo and they can only be bought in selected stores these days. I got mine from Shopwise for more than P150 each (I forgot the actual price).

Lastly, this week I'm obsessing about Tanesha Awasthi, blogger, plus size model and uber chic thrifter. she's behind girlwithcurves.tumblr.com and I just love her style that I read her posts in my work station despite risks of being caught. Check her out thru girlwithcurves.tumblr.com.

By the way, I cut my curls this week. That was a bad decision espeially since the hairdresser murdered my mane. But anyway, whatever happened, already happened. No use musing on it. I'll grow anyway but seeing how Tanesha Awasthi rock her curls, I just miss mine the more.

OOTD: High waist-ed Shorts

This is not exactly my outfit today. I wore this one last Tuesday and I've been meaning to post the pictures my friend Melanie Lanzaderas gladly took before I head out to the office. I remember it was so early in the morning for me but since I needed to get my ATM (yey!) I have to haul my ass and head to work.

I bought this Meg high-waisted shorts by accident. I think I bought it while looking for a summer dress last April. The sales lady from Meg (of SM San Lazaro) took out new outfits to be displayed and since I was pretty much their first customer that day, she suggested I try their new releases. I screamed (like literally) when I saw this high-waisted pleated shorts IN MY SIZE! Thank you Meg for thinking that there are people with waist lines over 30. LOL! More over, I think I grabbed this pair for only P200.

I paired this with a black sequined top I thrifted from an ukay store here in Sucat and matched it with my floral flats I knew I blogged about before.

I like the details at the back and I like how it accentuate the fact that I have a waist. Yes people it may be a bit thick-er but I have a waist!

My Harem Pants Challenge

I know. Harem Pants? You guys might be thinking: What the heck is she talking about? But I do swear by Gabi Gregg's mantra: Make it Work. So if and unless I look at myself in the mirror and cringe at the look I'm seeing, I would definitely step out of the sun in it. And today, I just stepped out in a pair of harem pants.

I bought them cheaply I think a month ago. I had a haul in Baclaran (which personally I think I soo need because retail therapy always works to get me out of the dumps) a few months ago where I bought a pair of floral flats (at  P180 and it amazingly fits me and my cousins), a pair of black semi-flared denims I so love the fit (for P300) and these black harem pants (for P220). At first I was hesitant to buy them because I have read from other bloggers that curvy girls should stay away from any harem pants as much as possible. It is not figure-flaunting and it adds volume. Well, no curvy girls should ever be caught looking twice or even thrice as big as she actually is!

I am bottom heavy, I admit it. I wish I am top heavy like I have bigger boobs, but I don't. Normally when I am chatting and guys would tell me they like curvy girls, I flatly bid them goodbye. I know what they are expecting and honestly, I refuse to be adored merely because of my tits. I have wits, men! That was quite a segue to another possible blog post. LOL! But as I was saying, I wish I weren't bottom heavy but I am. Therefore, harem pants can potentially highlight my thighs, something I am veering away from.

Luckily I found a pair which does not have a lot of hanging fabric and it does not have drop crotch folds in front so I do not have any extra fabric hanging in between my thighs. What my pair have are pretty folds in the sides where pockets are supposed to be.

To balance it out I wore my black tank top and my favorite blue cardigan since I know I'd shiver in the cold at work. As advised by Wikihow ( http://www.wikihow.com/Wear-Harem-Pants ) I wore costume jewelry and my brown wedge to give me added height and to slim down my legs as advised by wiki. LOL!

I took a video of it but for some reason I cannot edit it so I'd just post pics taken by my co-workers. Please comment...thanks. ♥

OOTD: DIY Style

My cousin Jam noticed that I haven't been dressing up lately. She would often wonder why I'm always in jeans and shirts when I go to work when I used to dress up as if I own the company I work for.

I said I'm uninspired.

Probably the reason why I'm down in the dumps lately is because my creative juices aren't flowing the way they used to. It's just there...stuck.

That's why, in an attempt to get my mojo back, I got a pair of scissors and with that in hand, I ripped my favorite floral dress and cut the hems shorter so instead of a dress, I have a long blouse. I cut out the hems of my black capri pants so there is room in my thighs to roll out the hems. Yesterday, instead of my usual ballet flats, I wore heels.

well, it did not help my luck in the Sales Department but I know I look good. LOL! Check this out:

LIFE CHOICES, AUTOBOTS AND OPTIMUS PRIME

I'm NOT a big fan of anything sci-fi. Growing up I'm not one of those who would glue their eyes on TV tubes to watch Voltes V, Terminator or Transformers. Except for X-Men, I'm not into the whole saving-the-world-when-it-comes-to-an-end thing. That is why going to a Transformers movie that is the third installment of probably a long queue of movies to follow (just so I can feed my curiosity) was tearing me up. Fine, it was in 3D as well so I know I have to part with a good amount of money. But the best reason I got for watching it was (well, curiosity and...) the fact that I need a break.

I'm soo drained lately that just spending time with my cousins was like fuel to an already beaten vehicle. I'm not happy where I am right now. I got a job where everyday, it does not bring me joy. Instead, I get this gaping hole inside of me that keeps on tearing me apart. I do not get appreciated, I do not even feel that I'm being of help to anybody plus well, I don't get paid enough as well. I have constantly joked that I'm the company's biggest donor and that (much to the delight of my bosses) I'm just there for fun.

Sitting there watching Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Ironhide and the others come to  life via 3D technology was a relief. Well, it was great but this blog is not a review of the movie. LOL! That was hands down awesome and anybody who has not experienced it MUST see it. Promise, it is worth it.

More importantly, I felt as though me and Sam (Shia) was in a similar predicament. He was three months out of college and was ready to conquer the real world. I have always been trying to conquer the real world. Both of us are looking for a place where we will be recognized and our contributions valued for whatever they're worth. We do not want to be recognized as mere messengers. I do not want to be a mere messenger.

Thanks to a two-hour movie, I think I will embark on another life-altering decision. But anyways, here is what I wore to watch Transformers 3 (Dark of the Moon).
